Black Widow Drawers
It’s not uncommon to see a black widow spider in your home, and they’re especially fond of hiding in dark, secluded places like drawers. If you open a drawer and see a black widow, don’t panic! Here’s what you need to do:
First, identify the spider
Make sure you know what you’re dealing with. Some spiders are harmless, and others can be dangerous. Black widows are easily recognizable by their shiny black bodies and red hourglass shape on their abdomens.
Second, stay calm and avoid getting bitten
Despite their reputation, black widows are actually shy spiders that will only bite if they feel threatened. So, the best thing to do is to stay calm and avoid sudden movements that could scare them.
Third, remove the spider
Now that you know what you’re dealing with, it’s time to remove the spider from your home. The best way to do this is to gently trap it in a cup or jar and then release it outside.
Finally, clean up your home
Spiders are attracted to homes that are cluttered and have a lot of hiding places. To discourage them from coming back, make sure to declutter your home and keep it clean.
